New! Bespoke Wedding Stationery Competiton

As you may have seen on Facebook, Go Glorious is about to launch a stationery range. Whether you are looking for a bespoke design, or off the peg, Go Glorious Wedding Stationery is the place to come! To get things started, I have decided to offer a competition for one lucky couple to obtain a full set of bespoke stationery at cost price. This means no design fee, and no mark up on any items - you will only cover the printer's costs. Your set can include day/evening invitations, Save the Dates, Menus, Order of Service and place cards.

I am really excited about this new venture. I have some outstandingly beautiful fonts, and am really giddy about incorporating them into some stunning designs. From rustic charm to elegant monograms or pretty vintage - I can accomodate any style.

In order to take part in this competition, all you have to do is send an email to me at julia@goglorious.co.uk to register your interest. The only condition for entry is that your ceremony and venue are booked, and that your wedding date is a minimum of 5 months away. Please indicate in your email the date, times and where you are having the ceremony and reception.

Entries must be received by Friday May 11th 2012.

Royal Mail Wedding Post Box has Arrived!

I'm really excited to announce that my gorgeous Wedding Post Box has arrived! I ordered it well over 2 months ago...but it really has been worth the wait. Made especially for us, it is a fibre glass replica of a cast iron Royal Mail Post Box. A mould of the original has been used - so there are all the little imperfections you would expect to see in the surface of cast iron. It looks exactly like the real thing, but it weighs next to nothing! In antique white and gold, it's the perfect addition to any wedding. Not only does it add real charm, but it also has a very practical use. Your guests won't be left holding onto cards and vouchers, not knowing who to give them to or where to put them down. And there is a real added benefit in that it is secure. In order to remove the contents the front has to be unscrewed, so there is no chance of anything going astray. Particularly if you do not have exclusivity at your venue, it's well worth airing on the side of caution. Style and saftey all wrapped up...!

Go Glorious based in Sheffield, and often caters for weddings in surrounding Yorkshire and Derbyshire. The Post Box can be collected in advance, or delivered on the day of your wedding.

Chatsworth Wedding Fair February 2012

For anyone who didn't make it, here a few photos from yesterday's fabulous wedding fair at Chatsworth House. It was a great day.  Huge thanks to Sarah from Executive Linen for providing perfect linen and chair covers - and being such an entertaining stand companion!  We met many, many lovely brides - and I can tell from the conversations we had that there are some very beautiful weddings coming up. Also thanks to Katie Peckett for providing the flowers. The table looked so pretty - I was delighted. Here are a few shots...

Wedding Post Box coming soon

Have ever seen one those gorgeous old Royal Mail post boxes painted in antique white, for guests to deposit cards in at weddings? I have seen but one in the flesh (it was beautiful), and can barely get a decent image of one online. So, whilst I have no photo to show you, Go Glorious has one coming soon! Custom made from fibre glass (which looks exactly like cast iron, with all the slight imperfections you'd expect, yet a fraction of the weight), the wedding post box will be available to hire from Go Glorious, Sheffield from mid April 2012. I am really excited about this, it's a fabulous addition to the GG collection of props, and it seems there aren't that many of them around. It's completely secure, so guests can post vouchers without the worry of them going astray. I'll be posting photos as soon as it arrives - can't wait! :)

Katie & Ben, Losehill Hall Hotel, December 9th 2011

 I could have cried with both happiness and frustration when it snowed on December 9th 2011.  It was Katie and Ben's Wedding Day. I knew it would make for spectacular photographs which was an absolute win.  I also knew it meant my chances of getting over the Peaks to the gorgeous Losehill Hall Hotel were somewhere between zero and zilch! So sadly, I didn't make it in person that day, and thankfully all the props had been collected in advance. But S6 Photography did a fabulous job of capturing it all, and some of the amazing pictures are featured below. Though I should add that the images of the menus and name cards are just my mobile snaps!

The beautiful flowers were courtesy of Catherine at Petalis. I have raved about her work on many occasions and yet again she produced absolutely stunning arrangements. I do believe the drive over the snowy hills was a bit tricky to say the least - but she battled on and delivered with time to spare!

Benefit Erase Paste - Amazing!

Okay - this is not my usual sort of post. But, if I've just discovered a cool beauty product it seems the right thing to do to share it with my brides. In fact I might just start doing a bit more of this going off at a tangent lark!

Right, all my life I've been blighted with hideous dark circles and crepey skin under my eyes. I remember even at the tender age of 16 thinking 'oh God, they're going to be beggars when I'm older'. And at 41, they are indeed a pain in the proverbial.  I've used lots of different concealer products over the years - from Touche Eclat to Benefit's Boi-ing. I've bitted and batted from this to that, and some are better than others. BUT, I have actually found one that really does what it says on the tin.  Benefit's 'Erase Paste' is a thick cream...but without that chalky business going on. So, it doesn't end up in cakey rivulets half an hour after putting it on.  The lady at the counter also recommended not using moisturiser under your eyes pre-make-up, but an eye cream. Is it me? I thought that stuff was for bedtime! Anyway, I sceptically bought the Eye Paste, and experimented using eye cream underneath (not a posh one, just Boots own).  I swear to God, this is the best result I've had, EVER! It stays put, and doesn't look claggy or too obviously 'covered up'.  I'm venue style queen, not beauty expert - but surely I can diversify every now and again? I'm sure all you radiant young things don't need such muck - but if one or two of you have eye bags with even half the capacity of mine, you may just be glad of this product!

Behind the Scenes at Chatsworth Photo Shoot

Better late than never! I said I'd pop a few behind the scenes shots on from the Chatsworth Photo Shoot - and here they are.  For a reminder of the two original blog posts, they are here: Ultimate Romance at Chatsworth Part I and Ultimate Romance at Chatsworth Part II

The juiciest bit of news is that the BBC have been filming a documentary at Chatsworth this year, and on the day of the shoot we were somewhat under the spot light.  I'd better not say too much, but let me tell you I was minding my P's and Q's just in case! I don't know when it will be shown, but I'll be making lots of noise when it goes out.

Lewis, one of our models and a Chatsworth staff member, was under major scrutiny I think!

Poor bloke - think he'll be quite a celebrity in the not too distant future!

Now, do you remember this? Lizzie and Darcy, aka Charlotte and Harry - were just the most fantastic models. They only met on the day of the shoot, but you'd never know they weren't madly in love. The 'kiss' was very convincing...

 

But seconds later, this was the reality...!

Poor Charlotte looks just a twince embarrassed, but Harry's taking it in his manly stride!

This tickles me too.

What a captivating moment as the infamous pair exchange a demure yet passionate glance...

 

And then fits of giggles when it can be sustained no longer!

 

If I hadn't been there, I'd never have believed this wasn't the real McCoy. They were so, so convincing.

Now I don't know if you're thinking that that picnic was all props, but I can tell you it was real and proper food. I recall going to a rotisserie the evening before and asking for their best looking chicken.  I think they thought I was mad! All the food was very real, and very fresh - we even used Chatsworth's finest pork pies. 

It was actually lunch time when we shot the picnic scene. Everyone was wilting, particularly the models, and as Simon gave the word as the last photo had been taken we swarmed on it like vultures!

 

 

We even used the china!

 

Aw, I feel all nostalgic just looking at these. What a truly fab day it was. Can't wait for the documentary.  Of course I'll look a right Herbert if we end up on the cutting room floor, but it's a risk I'm prepared to take! As soon as I know when it's out I'll post the date!
